Gardening Week 5
This week our gardening group started with a lesson plan.
The purpose of this lesson was to show the kids how plants grow, their parts
and their functions; our primary goal is to prepare the kids to learn more
about plants and introduced them the topic of photosynthesis and also explain
how the plants are formed.
To accomplish our goals, we did two activities with each
group. The first activity consisted on making a drawing of a plant they like and
write the name of every part of the plant we showed them. We did this in order to make sure they
remember the names of particular parts and their functions. The last activity
was to make a ‘‘game’’ that consisted on guessing the word we presented to
them. For example, some of the words may have been stem, leaves, fruits, etc.
Another of our goals is to show them how the garden they planted was growing
like in their drawings. We want to show them the responsibility of taking care
of a plant, and this can help them in the future.
We are sure that our goals are accomplished when we see the
kids happy and interested in the topics that we are discussing. They are
completely ecstatic every time they see the garden and its progress.
